New Notification System
Source of landfill noise is found and stopped thanks to a new system
Sometimes when things go wrong it shows where things go right. On Sunday night, August 28, 2016, OC Waste & Recycling received reports of a loud noise coming from the Prima Deshecha Landfill in San Juan Capistrano. Thanks to a new notification system recently put in place, several landfill staff members received the email from a nearby resident informing them of a loud popping noise that appeared to be coming from the landfill.
After confirming the source of the noise as the renewable energy power plant at the landfill, staff immediately notified the power plant operator who shut down the engine that was causing the noise. No hazards were associated with the noise.
Neighbors and staff alike were pleased with the results: First notice of the noise was received at 7 p.m. The noise stopped around 9:30 p.m.
As always, OC Waste & Recycling wants to know about any issues that could be related to landfill operations. Please contact Julie Chay at 714-834-4059--or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
